Jing Qin is an artist originally from the area of Tai hang Mountain,China. She deliberately builds an antagonistic narrative by mixing elements from her fantasies with common objects from the more mundane world. Drawing inspiration from her experiences of alienation, Qin employs iconography, symbolism, and a touch of absurdity to create a space that embraces the at-once ambiguous and fluid mythology.
Jing Qin has been the Artist in Residency at Vermont Studio Center and Virginia Center for Creative Arts. Her work has been featured on publications as New American Paintings, Architectural Digest, New England Review, and Friend of the Artist. She has exhibited at Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art and Barry Art Museum, in addition to solo exhibitions at Vicky Myhren Gallery, University of Denver, Tinney Contemporary Art Gallery, Nashville, and Spring/Break Art Fair.
Qin has taught painting at University of Denver as a Visiting Professor. She is an assistant professor of Painting and Drawing at Old Dominion University.
